The theme for POP TV 2018 is: “Creating a global consciousness of peace through innovative ways to end poverty and promote quality education”
Sessions are held on Thursdays from 15:00-16:00 UTC. Registration for live participation in each session is FREE. Register for each session on our events page HERE.
Our objective is to develop a global conscience that allows people to think about and act in creative ways to reduce poverty as well as explore how the lack of quality, inter-generational education challenge commitment to a culture of peace.
Sessions are based on Goals 1 & 4 of Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development that are divided into sub-categories that will be covered over several weeks.
Week 1 to 6 : Goal 1 of Agenda 2030 – End of poverty in all its forms everywhere
Week 7 to 12 : Goal 4 of Agenda 2030- Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
Week 1 (11 January)
Current approaches to poverty reduction – Worldwide Overview
Overview of world-wide poverty reduction and the role of activists to create awareness about peacebuilding throughout the end of poverty.
Week 2 (18 January)
Spontaneous leaders in the struggle against poverty
Examples of spontaneous leaders – ordinary people that take an active role in the struggle against poverty.
Week 3 (25 January)
End of poverty -Creative approaches
Creative ways to spread awareness about the end of poverty – Innovative calls to action: leading cases

Poverty reduction and peacebuilding perspectives: Activist Dialogue
Outstanding community activists reflect on their experiences of how working to reduce poverty helps to strengthen peace within communities.
Week 5 (8 February)
Public policy and stakeholder participation
Public policies that ensure significant participation of governments, private sector and civilians in the efforts to reduce poverty.

New strategies to end poverty
What does modern strategies to reduce poverty look like and how can people have positive impact right where they are?
Week 7 (22 February)
Global education – General Concepts –Education for all
Higher Education institutions that teach the values and global citizenship for peace, challenges of educators to promote and educate global citizens and peace builders.
Week 8 (1 March)
Qualitative education- Leading Cases
Community experiences with informal education. What are the pros and cons with informal education and what is its impact on culture of peace?
Week 9 (8 March)
Teachers and the culture of peace
Teachers, their role in delivering quality educational content and create awareness about the culture of peace as well as the challenges they face.
Week 10 (15 March)
An overview of inclusive education around the globe. Analyses of building peace through inclusive education.
Week 11 (22 March)
The Volunteer’s role in promoting the culture of peace
The role of volunteers on developing quality educational experiences while promoting the culture of peace principles.

Challenges of education
What have we learned and what are our challenges for quality education to create a culture of peace? How can we creatively take action for quality education that support the principles of the culture of peace?
